A Season of Growth
TEAM is entering an exciting season of growth. Over the past year, we've seen real momentum build across the Texas Montessori community -- from continued progress on Texas Workforce Commission recognition of AMI and AMS teacher credentials, to attendance at our annual Statewide Conference climbing from about 180 attendees to more than 250. To make sure we channel that growth in the right direction, TEAM is currently conducting a stakeholder survey as part of our 3-5 year strategic planning process. We want to hear directly from school and program leaders, teachers, teacher preparation programs, and our board and volunteers about what's working, what's not, and where TEAM should focus its advocacy and support next. Your voice shapes our priorities -- and the more Montessorians who weigh in, the stronger our case when we speak with legislators and regulators with One Voice.

New Research: Montessori Preschool Boosts Learning at Lower Cost
A first-of-its-kind national randomized controlled trial, led by University of Virginia researcher Angeline Lillard and published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, followed 588 children admitted to public Montessori preschool programs by lottery. By the end of kindergarten, the Montessori group showed stronger reading, executive function, memory, and social understanding than peers -- with gains that held (and grew) rather than fading the way typical preschool benefits do. The strongest effects showed up among lower-income children, and the programs cost about $13,000 less per child over three years than traditional preschool.
TEAM Statewide Conference: Nurturing Change
Join us November 7 at the Montessori School of San Antonio for TEAM's annual Statewide Conference, Nurturing Change. This year's keynote speaker is Ashley "Bird" Bird. We'll also be sharing what we're learning from this year's stakeholder survey and where it's pointing our strategic plan next. Registration details are coming soon -- we hope to see you there.
